A few snippets from the education-related action in the Alaska State Legislature on Monday, March 30, 2015:
During the House Education Committee, Commissioner Hanley testified that DEED is already putting into place a policy for school fundraisers, so SB 163 would actually slow down the process by requiring them to put a regulation into place, instead of just a policy.
On Friday, January 16, 2015 the Alaska State Legislature released the second batch of prefiled legislation of the first session of the 29th Alaska State Legislature. Only two education-related bills were in the 2nd release of prefiled legislation.
Someone asked a question earlier this week about what the BSA will be for FY16. The BSA is what was passed in HB 278 last year - $5,880 for FY16 and $5,930 for FY17. The amount for FY16 was forward funded last session.
